Hogwarts Legacy is an immersive, open-world action RPG set in the world first introduced in the Harry Potter books. Now you can take control of the action and be at the center of your own adventure in the wizarding world. Embark on a journey through familiar and new locations as you explore and discover fantastic beasts, customize your character and craft potions, master spell casting, upgrade talents, and become the wizard you want to be.

Experience Hogwarts in the 1800s. Your character is a student who holds the key to an ancient secret that threatens to tear the wizarding world apart. You have received a late acceptance to the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and soon discover that you are no ordinary student: you possess an unusual ability to perceive and master Ancient Magic. Hogwarts Legacy Full Breakdown: The Combat System

Hello everyone and welcome back to Another Hogwarts legacy full breakdown! Today we’re going to be talking about something a lot of people overlook and are not really looking into: the combat system in this game. Now I get it, this game is immense and it’s extremely immersive, and there’s so much to explore because it is probably one of the greatest RPGs of the 2020s, if not 2023 as a whole.

Now sit back, grab a snack, and enjoy as I take you with me on to the adventurous world of Hogwarts Legacy.

Choosing Your Path

The combat system in this game is extremely immersive in the sense that you are able to choose and learn spells and actually choose your path moving forward. Now, as we know in the Harry Potter series, there are two main routes you can go: you can go for the good or the evil, and there are spells for such paths.

We are not sure if you are able to transition between the two freely, but what we do know for sure is that the collector’s edition, which comes with a deluxe edition of Hogwarts Legacy, includes the Dark Arts pack. This pack includes dark spells, a set that gives players a unique battle arena, and dark wizard cosmetic items.

The Dark Arts Battle Arena

From what we’ve known so far, this is probably the only “microtransaction” in the game. Avalanche has pretty much put forth that there will be no microtransactions in the game, which I think is absolutely amazing because then it just makes the playing field extremely equal for everyone.

This pack also includes the rideable test for a winged creature that resembles a dark, Lore skeletal horse in appearance. But in addition to this, which is why I wanted to highlight this in the beginning of this video, is that you’ll be able to take part in the Dark Arts battle arena.

This arena seems to come with the deluxe editions I mentioned, but you can also get it in the Dark Arts pack if you choose to buy that individually. So it sounds as though the base game will have two battle arenas available for everyone.

In the Dark Arts Arena, we see our character face off against waves of enemies using the unforgivable curses to defeat them. Just going straight in with avocadavra to kill an opponent, which is a very well-known green spell we’ve all grown to fall in love with.

We see different enemies and spells in action, as well as other aspects. For instance, there will be a Chinese chomping cabbage that you can let loose at enemies. You’ll first have to buy the seeds and grow them, and the focus potion, which we will make from lace wing flies, flux weed stems, and duck bog tongues.

Now this is a lot of information to digest because it tells you how immersive this combat system is. Would I recommend getting this DLC? For this, 100% yes. Alongside all these things that are open to you, you will actually get 72 hours early access to the game. That means before February 10, 2023.

Hone Your Skills in the Dark Arts

Once unlocked by the player, the Dark Arts battle arena will be located in the sinister Forbidden Forest, as I’ve shown you guys previously in my past video on the grounds of Hogwarts. As the name suggests, this arena will be a place for players to hone their skills in the dark arts within a combat setting, facing off against waves of enemies as I mentioned previously.

The dark arts include the iconic unforgivable curses. More of these unforgivable curses besides avocadavra or crucio include imperio, which allows the caster to take control of another person’s body, and mortis, which is a spell that causes instant death.

Players will be able to fully test the intricacies of each spell in high octane combat scenarios without the stakes of story-driven battles, which I think is very immersive. At the end of the day, when you’re progressing throughout the game, you’ll be able to really understand how each spell works and what it’s capable of.

Customizing Your Character

In addition to choosing your path and learning spells, you’ll also be able to customize your character. You’ll be able to choose their gender, appearance, and even their Hogwarts house.

From what we’ve seen so far, there will be a character creator where you’ll be able to customize everything from your character’s face to their hair and even their clothing. You’ll be able to choose from a variety of options to make your character truly unique.

The Open World

One of the most immersive aspects of this game is the open world. You’ll be able to explore the grounds of Hogwarts, the Forbidden Forest, and even Hogsmeade. Each location is filled with hidden secrets and surprises, and you’ll be able to interact with a variety of characters along the way.

You’ll also be able to take part in various activities, such as dueling, brewing potions, and even caring for your own owl. The open world is truly vast and there is always something new to discover.

Final Thoughts

Overall, the combat system in Hogwarts Legacy is truly immersive and offers a unique experience for players. With the ability to choose your path, learn spells, customize your character, and explore the vast open world, there is always something new to discover.
